Paraffin-Wax Treatment on the Royal Caribbean Cruise...
My June 2011 Spa Experience found me on The Royal Caribbean - Freedom of the Seas Cruise. Yes, I know what you're thinking; isn't being on a cruise, on the world's second largest open ocean liner, already luxurious enough? I couldn't agree more. But you know my motto "More is More". Couple that with a Spa Experience. Wow!
Prices on this kind of facility are steep, the menu impressive and the staff from all around the world. The most breathtaking aspect of the cruise is the ambiance; the open endless ocean view. That alone is mind blowing, overwhelming in a ‘wow’ kinda way.
The one experience that stood out was the ‘Paraffin Wax Treatments for Hands and Feet’. This selection for me was a necessity. Prior to the cruise I had just come from a marathon holiday in Disney, Orlando. While there, I tried to achieve the impossible; cover the four theme parks in 5 days! I literally killed my feet (a story for another day)! So here I was, on this once- in- a- lifetime cruise liner experience to undo the damage to my now bent and buckled pedis.
Since location is everything, I asked to have my treatment on the upper deck, in the open air. I wanted to take in the salty smell of the sea, the endless mass of water and feel the warm sun and cool breeze on my skin. Yes, it was an excellent choice!
The treatment starts with the traditional pedicure/manicure. It wasn’t too long into it, that my feet started thanking me! But there was more; a pot of thick, floating jelly-like substance was then brought. It was love at first dip. The thick, warm wax cuddles my toes… foot... ankle. I instantly felt relief. The tension and aches from foot to spine, slowly melting away…… One after the other, my feet, and then hands were dipped into this gorgeous, delicious warm pot of soft wax. Mmmm! My feet smiled. I smiled.
Moving on, my feet and hands were each wrapped in rubber mittens, for approximately 20minutes. We asked for an extra 15 minutes of pampering which was graciously granted. In the mean time, to my pleasant surprise, I was offered a neck and shoulder massage which put me into a more relaxed state. The sun was warm; the wind was cool & caressing, and the sound of the deep blue waters… majestic. Life is indeed, Beautiful ;)
The cool, solidified wax was then peeled off, leaving me with baby soft and refreshed skin. I was then massaged with warm oils that had soft, pleasant scents. My feet were breathing again! Considering the location, my choice of a cream coral colored nail polish was perfect. I was served water, fresh orange juice and fruit shortly thereafter and thought to myself, “this is ultimate luxury, my ultimate Spa Experience”
Advice:
On a location such as this, its paramount you either book your treatments online before boarding or first thing after boarding as they fill up pretty fast.
The staff is over worked into the night, so get the first or second appointments of the day. When your masseuse is still fresh and energized.
Life is Beautiful....:)

Beauty Tip: When Not To Pluck
I actually check my brows every morning so that there is never a nasty surprise. That doesn't mean that I pluck every day however. But, when shouldn't you pluck? Actually, you might have noticed that it is much more painful right before your period. If it's going to hurt, this will be the time.

Health Tip For The Day
How much aerobic exercise does it take to trim a tummy? In a recent study, overweight people who jogged, cycled, or hit the elliptical for about 3 hours a week had the best belly-busting outcome -- as long as they exercised at an up-tempo pace. Not ready to go that distance yet? Try walking briskly for just a couple of hours per week. That's enough to at least keep belly swelling in check.
